Thank you for taking the time to speak with us today. Can you start by telling us a bit about yourself and your background?

Gwamna: Hello! It’s my pleasure. I’m Gwamna, I’m 25 years old, and I recently graduated with a degree in Business Administration. I’ve always been passionate about entrepreneurship and innovation.

What motivated you to join NJFP and what were you seeking from the experience?

Gwamna: I joined NJFP because I was seeking practical experience that would bridge the gap between my academic knowledge and the real-world workforce. I was eager to understand how businesses operate on a day-to-day basis and to develop skills that would make me more employable.

Can you share how the programme helped you in aligning your career aspirations with the practical skills required in the Nigerian workforce?

Gwamna: Certainly! The programme provided me with a 12-month placement at a great company where I was exposed to various aspects of business operations. I learned about project management, customer relations, and even a bit of digital marketing. The hands-on experience was invaluable, and it helped me understand how to apply my theoretical knowledge in a practical context.

Were there any specific skills or lessons that you acquired during your placement that you believe were crucial for your growth?

Gwamna: Yes, definitely. One of the most important skills I learned was effective communication. Whether it was through emails, presentations, or meetings, I realized how crucial clear communication is in a professional setting. I also gained valuable insights into teamwork and how to navigate the challenges that can arise in a diverse working environment.

How would you describe the impact of the experience on your confidence and preparedness to enter the workforce?

Gwamna: It has definitely been a confidence booster for me. Before the program, I was unsure of how I would fit into the professional world. But the supportive environment, mentorship, and real-time feedback I received helped me build confidence in my abilities. I feel much more prepared and optimistic about my future career now.

Lastly, what advice would you give to fresh graduates who are considering joining NJFP?

Gwamna: I would encourage them to join without hesitation. The NJFP is excellent for gaining practical experience, networking with professionals, and enhancing one’s skills. My advice would be to approach the opportunity with an open mind, be ready to learn, and take initiative. The experience can be truly transformative if you make the most of it.
